In contrast, buying from a private seller usually means there is no manufacturer's warranty included. Nonetheless, buying second-hand can be an excellent opportunity to start playing guitar, add an older model to your collection, or discover something truly unique.
When most new players look at what their first guitar should be, they will do some research and have an idea of what style they want to play. You aren’t going to be shredding heavy metal within a few weeks, so buying a used guitar should be a good all-round option to scale with your guitar ability; eventually, you will be able to upgrade to a newer model that better fits your style. The main concern is you don’t want to invest a large chunk of money into something you may not be 100% confident in.
Guitar manufacturers have a few iconic models they have made for decades, but they aren’t necessarily the same. A 1950s Gibson Les Paul is different to a 2019 model. If you are looking for a specific build of guitar, then you may have to buy a second hand electric guitar.
There have been some incredibly unique, strange, and rare guitars in history. A lot of guitars are made on a production line nowadays, whereas older models were hand made. Which means each one is technically different. Sometimes a ‘flaw’ in the build can change how a guitar sounds, which is much more unlikely in modern guitar building.
With used guitars, the sound can change over time. The pickups getting used, and the sound becomes warmer. Some of the tonality of the used electric guitars comes from the fact they have been played extensively. The way a guitar is played can cause minute changes which can change how the guitar sounds. You can’t get that with a brand-new model.
Discover an extensive range of guitars, featuring everything from brand-new models to pre-owned treasures, including both acoustics and electrics.
