Why would you purchase a second hand guitar over new?

Purchasing a second hand electric guitar from a reseller often ensures that the instrument has undergone thorough quality control and typically comes with a warranty. In contrast, buying from a private seller usually means there is no manufacturer's warranty included. Nonetheless, buying second-hand can be an excellent opportunity to start playing guitar, add an older model to your collection, or discover something truly unique.

Cheaper for beginners

When most new players look at what their first guitar should be, they will do some research and have an idea of what style they want to play. You aren’t going to be shredding heavy metal within a few weeks, so buying a used guitar should be a good all-round option to scale with your guitar ability; eventually, you will be able to upgrade to a newer model that better fits your style. No longer in production

Some of the tonality of the used electric guitars comes from the fact they have been played extensively. The way a guitar is played can cause minute changes which can change how the guitar sounds. You can’t get that with a brand-new model.
