The Antiquity Legends VB-MC1-SB Bass Guitar in Sunburst is a compact violin-style bass designed to deliver vintage-inspired looks, a comfortable short-scale feel and a warm dual-humbucker sound.

Its maple body is paired with a maple neck and Indian laurel fingerboard, while the shorter 30.5" scale makes the instrument easier to navigate than a conventional 34" long-scale bass. Two mini humbuckers provide a full, rounded response with enough clarity for melodic playing as well as traditional bass lines.

This Pre-Owned example is in Very Good condition, weighs an actual 5.78 lbs, and is supplied without a case.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

The VB-MC1-SB combines a distinctive vintage-inspired appearance with a very approachable playing feel. Its compact violin-style body and 30.5" scale make it feel noticeably smaller and easier to handle than a full-size long-scale bass.

The dual mini humbuckers also give it a useful tonal range, producing the warm low-end response associated with vintage-style basses while retaining enough definition for more articulate lines.

At only 5.78 lbs, this particular example is especially appealing to players who value a lighter instrument for rehearsals, gigs or extended practice sessions.

DETAILED FEATURES & BENEFITS

Violin-Style Maple Body

The maple body uses the compact violin-style shape associated with some of the most recognisable bass designs of the 1960s. Its smaller dimensions and symmetrical silhouette give the VB-MC1-SB a distinctive vintage identity.

3-Tone Sunburst Finish

The 3-Tone Sunburst finish reinforces the classic look, while the white pearl pickguard and ivory binding add visual contrast around the body.

Standard C Maple Neck

The maple neck uses a Standard C profile, providing a familiar and comfortable shape that should feel approachable to both newer and more experienced players.

Indian Laurel Fingerboard

The Indian laurel fingerboard provides a smooth playing surface and is paired with cream dot inlays for clear visual reference across the neck.

30.5" Short Scale

The 30.5" scale length reduces the distance between frets compared with a conventional 34" bass. This can make stretches easier and gives the strings a slightly softer feel under the fingers.

Dual Mini Humbuckers

Two mini humbuckers provide a warm, full-bodied bass response with useful upper-mid clarity. This makes the VB-MC1-SB suitable for traditional rounded bass sounds as well as more melodic playing.

22-Fret Layout

The 22-fret fingerboard provides plenty of range for bass lines, fills and higher-register melodic work without compromising the compact short-scale format.

5.78 lbs Actual Weight

This individual bass weighs an actual 5.78 lbs, making it particularly light and comfortable compared with many conventional solid-body basses.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The Antiquity Legends VB-MC1-SB is particularly well suited to beginners, guitarists moving onto bass, players with smaller hands and musicians who prefer a lightweight short-scale instrument.

It is also a useful option for more experienced bassists looking for a distinctive vintage-style backup or an alternative tonal flavour for recording and live use.

PLAYING STYLES & APPLICATIONS

The VB-MC1-SB works especially well for retro pop, indie, classic rock, soul, blues, alternative and vintage-inspired bass styles.

Its short scale and mini humbuckers naturally suit warm, rounded lines, but the pickups also provide enough articulation for melodic bass parts and more modern arrangements.

HOW IT COMPARES

Antiquity VB-MC1-SB vs Long-Scale Bass

A conventional long-scale bass normally uses a 34" scale, giving firmer string tension and a larger playing area. The VB-MC1-SB's 30.5" scale feels more compact and relaxed, making it easier to navigate for many players.

Violin Bass vs Solid-Body Bass

A conventional solid-body bass generally has a more modern shape and often a more direct, focused response. The violin-style VB-MC1-SB prioritises vintage aesthetics, lightweight construction and a compact feel.

Mini Humbuckers vs Single-Coil Bass Pickups

Mini humbuckers provide a fuller, hum-cancelling response compared with many traditional single-coil bass pickups, while retaining more definition than some larger humbucker designs.

FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★

Best suited for: Players looking for a lightweight, short-scale bass with vintage styling and warm humbucker tones.

Customers usually upgrade from: Entry-level full-scale basses, starter bass packages and basic short-scale instruments.

Most commonly paired with: Compact bass combos, clean bass amplifiers, compressors and light overdrive effects.

Our tip: The 30.5" scale is a major part of this bass's appeal. It makes stretches easier and gives the strings a softer feel, which can be especially helpful for beginners or guitarists adapting to bass.

Showroom feedback: At only 5.78 lbs, this is an exceptionally manageable bass, and the violin-style body gives it far more visual character than a typical entry-level instrument.
