B.C. Rich Rich Bich Doubleneck Trans Red, (Used, Comm)
Description
The B.C. Rich Rich Bich Doubleneck in Trans Red is an extraordinary 6-string / 12-string electric guitar built for players who want maximum tonal range, unmistakable stage presence and the distinctive styling of one of B.C. Rich’s most iconic designs.
Built around a substantial dual-neck neck-through construction, the Rich Bich combines a conventional 6-string guitar with a dedicated 12-string neck, allowing players to move between powerful electric rhythm and lead tones and the wide, chiming sound of a 12-string without changing instruments.
Both necks use ebony fingerboards and 24-fret layouts, while four Duncan Designed humbuckers provide a broad range of tones. Expanded switching including coil-tap, phase and Varitone functions takes the tonal flexibility considerably beyond a conventional doubleneck.
Finished in striking Trans Red, this Pre-Owned example is in Very Good condition, weighs an actual 14.58 lbs, and includes a hardcase.

FAMOUS PLAYERS & THE DOUBLE-NECK BICH
The B.C. Rich Double-Neck Bich has some serious rock history behind it. Lita Ford is one of the players most strongly associated with the design, with the Double-Neck Bich historically linked directly to her use of B.C. Rich instruments. Carlos Alomar, best known for his work with David Bowie, and Randy Jackson of Zebra have also been associated with B.C. Rich Double-Neck Bich guitars. That heritage gives the model more than just visual impact – it connects it directly to the extravagant, high-performance guitar culture of the late 1970s and 1980s.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT
Very few guitars make a visual and sonic statement quite like a B.C. Rich doubleneck.
The combination of a conventional 6-string and a dedicated 12-string neck gives this instrument access to radically different textures without requiring a guitar change mid-song.
The lower neck covers standard rhythm and lead duties, while the upper 12-string produces the broad, harmonically rich sound associated with doubled string courses.
Add four humbuckers, coil-tap options, phase switching and Varitone filtering, and this becomes far more than simply two guitars joined together.
DETAILED FEATURES & BENEFITS
6-String & 12-String Combination
The lower neck is configured as a traditional 6-string electric guitar, while the upper neck is configured as a 12-string.
This allows instant movement between conventional electric guitar tones and wider, chiming 12-string textures.
Neck-Through Construction
Both necks extend through the body rather than using conventional bolt-on joints.
This construction helps provide strong sustain and excellent upper-fret access across both necks.
Trans Red Finish
The transparent red finish gives the guitar an especially dramatic appearance while allowing the underlying wood character to remain visible.
It suits the elaborate Bich body shape particularly well.
Ebony Fingerboards
Both necks use ebony fingerboards, providing a smooth, hard playing surface with a premium feel.
24-Fret Necks
Each neck provides 24 frets, giving a full two-octave range on every string.
This gives the guitar greater upper-register access than many traditional doubleneck designs.
Duncan Designed HB-103 Pickups
The guitar is equipped with four Duncan Designed HB-103 humbuckers, with two pickups assigned to each neck.
These provide a powerful humbucker response suitable for clean, driven and high-gain sounds.
Expanded 6-String Controls
The 6-string section includes traditional pickup selection and volume/tone control alongside additional switching for coil tap, reverse phase and Varitone-style filtering.
This dramatically expands the available tonal palette.
12-String Controls
The 12-string section has its own pickup and level controls, allowing it to be set independently from the 6-string side.
Coil-Tap Functions
Coil-tap switching allows selected humbuckers to access brighter, leaner sounds closer to single-coil territory.
Reverse-Phase Switching
Phase switching creates thinner, more nasal tones that work particularly well for cutting rhythm sounds and unusual layered textures.
Varitone Filtering
The multi-position Varitone control provides additional frequency filtering, expanding the guitar beyond standard pickup and tone-control combinations.
B.C. Rich Quad Bridges
The B.C. Rich Quad bridge system provides individual adjustment and maintains the distinctive period-inspired B.C. Rich hardware aesthetic.
Grover Tuners
Grover Super Rotomatic machine heads provide precise tuning adjustment across both necks.
14.58 lbs Actual Weight
This individual doubleneck weighs 14.58 lbs.
That is a significant stage weight, so players planning longer performances may want to use a wide, supportive strap.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The B.C. Rich Rich Bich Doubleneck is particularly suited to rock, progressive rock, hard rock, metal and theatrical stage performers who need both conventional 6-string tones and 12-string textures from one instrument.
It is also likely to appeal strongly to collectors and B.C. Rich enthusiasts due to its unusual specification, historic artist associations and huge visual impact.

HOW IT COMPARES
Doubleneck vs Two Separate Guitars
Two separate guitars may be lighter individually, but require a complete instrument change.
The Rich Bich allows immediate switching between 6-string and 12-string parts within the same performance.
B.C. Rich vs Traditional Doubleneck Designs
Many doublenecks use relatively conventional body shapes and simple electronics.
The Rich Bich combines B.C. Rich styling with unusually comprehensive switching and tone shaping.
12-String vs Standard 6-String
The 12-string neck produces a broader, more harmonically complex sound through paired string courses.
It is especially useful for clean rhythm textures and layered arrangements.

FAIR DEAL MUSIC EXPERT VERDICT ★★★★★
Best suited for: Rock and progressive players who genuinely need 6-string and 12-string sounds in one instrument, as well as collectors looking for one of B.C. Rich’s most dramatic designs.
Customers usually upgrade from: Standard 6-string guitars, single-neck B.C. Rich models and more conventional doubleneck instruments.
Most commonly paired with: High-headroom clean amps, valve amplifiers, high-gain rigs, compression, chorus, delay and reverb.
Our tip: At 14.58 lbs, use a wide supportive strap if you intend to perform with it for extended periods. The weight is substantial, but that is part of the territory with a full-size 6/12 doubleneck.
Showroom feedback: Few instruments have this much presence before you even plug them in. The combination of the Bich body shape, Trans Red finish and two full 24-fret necks makes this a genuinely spectacular piece, while its association with players such as Lita Ford adds real historical interest.
