Why Choose The Epiphone Flamekat?
Distinctive Hot-Rod Styling
The Flamekat is one of Epiphone’s most visually recognisable semi-hollow guitars. Its flame graphic finish, dice inlays and retro-inspired look give it a strong stage presence that stands apart from more traditional semi-hollow designs.
Modded With Epiphone Dogear P-90 Pickups
This example has been upgraded with Epiphone Dogear P-90s, giving it a more open, raw and biting sound. P-90s are excellent for players who want the clarity of a single coil with more midrange punch and attitude.
Great For Rockabilly, Garage And Blues
The semi-hollow body, vibrato tailpiece and P-90 pickup mod make this a strong fit for rockabilly, garage rock, blues, punk, alternative and vintage-inspired rock tones.
Compact Semi-Hollow Feel
The Flamekat belongs to Epiphone’s Kat Series, which gives players semi-hollow resonance in a smaller and more manageable body size than many larger ES-style guitars.
Player-Focused Modified Example
Because this guitar has been modified and is listed in Fair condition, it is best viewed as a player’s instrument rather than a fully original collector piece. That makes it ideal for someone who wants tone, vibe and individuality.
Strong Character At Used Value
Fair condition guitars can be excellent choices for players who care more about sound and feel than cosmetic perfection. This Flamekat has the kind of worn-in character that suits its hot-rod identity.
Comparison Against Popular Alternatives
Epiphone Flamekat vs Epiphone Wildkat
The Wildkat is one of the more common Kat Series models and is known for its P-90-style voice. This Flamekat offers a more dramatic flame graphic look and has been modded with Epiphone Dogear P-90s for a similarly raw single-coil character.
Epiphone Flamekat vs Epiphone Alleykat
The Alleykat has a more refined semi-hollow style, while the Flamekat is bolder, more visual and more rock-and-roll in personality. This modded example leans even further into gritty, characterful tones.
Epiphone Flamekat vs Gretsch Hollow Body
A Gretsch hollow body often gives a brighter, cleaner rockabilly-style response. The Flamekat with Dogear P-90s offers a more mid-forward, raw and punchy sound with a compact semi-hollow feel.
Epiphone Flamekat vs Gibson ES-335-Style Guitar
An ES-335-style guitar is usually larger and more traditional. The Flamekat is smaller, more visually distinctive and better suited to players who want a less conventional semi-hollow instrument.
Who Is It For?
Rockabilly And Retro Players
The Flamekat’s hot-rod styling, vibrato tailpiece and semi-hollow design make it a natural fit for retro-inspired players.
Blues And Garage Guitarists
The P-90 modification gives the guitar the bite and grit needed for blues, garage rock, punk and raw overdriven tones.
Players Wanting Something Different
This is ideal for guitarists who want a guitar that looks and feels more individual than a standard solid-body or traditional semi-hollow.
Studio Musicians
A modded P-90 semi-hollow can be a useful studio tool, especially when you need a guitar part with texture, bite and personality.
Live Performers
The Flamekat’s bold look and distinctive tone make it a strong stage guitar for players who want visual impact as well as sound.

Educational Section: Why Choose A P-90 Semi-Hollow Guitar?
A P-90 semi-hollow guitar offers a brilliant middle ground between warm resonance and raw attack. The semi-hollow body adds air, depth and openness, while P-90 pickups bring midrange bite, clarity and dynamic response.
Compared with humbuckers, P-90s often sound more open and immediate. Compared with standard single coils, they usually offer more thickness and grind. This makes them excellent for blues, rock, punk, indie and expressive clean-to-driven playing.
On a guitar like the Epiphone Flamekat, the P-90 modification adds even more attitude to an already characterful design. It is a strong choice for players who want a guitar that feels different, sounds lively and looks unmistakable.

The Epiphone Flamekat was part of Epiphone’s Kat Series, a family of compact semi-hollow guitars with bold styling and strong personality. The Flamekat stood out thanks to its flame graphic finish, dice inlays, dice-style controls and retro hot-rod presentation.
