At 7.66 lbs, it remains manageable for rehearsals, recording and live use.
DETAILED FEATURES & BENEFITS
British-Built Character
Gordon Smith is one of the UK's longest-established independent electric guitar makers.
Its instruments have traditionally focused on practical construction, straightforward electronics and player-friendly design rather than mass-production uniformity.
GSG2 Double-Cut Design
The GSG2 uses a twin-cutaway body style inspired by classic SG-format guitars.
This gives the player easy access to the upper frets and creates a compact, performance-oriented feel.
Satin Honeyburst Finish
The Satin Honeyburst finish gives the guitar a warm vintage-inspired appearance.
The satin surface also provides a more natural tactile feel than a heavily polished high-gloss finish.
Twin-Pickup Platform
The GSG2 is designed around a two-pickup layout, giving the guitar access to contrasting neck and bridge voices alongside combined settings.
Passive Electronics
The guitar uses passive electronics, keeping operation straightforward and requiring no battery.
Player-Focused Design
The GSG range has traditionally prioritised simplicity and usability.
The result is a guitar that feels purpose-built for rehearsals, studio work and live performance without unnecessary complication.
7.66 lbs Actual Weight
This individual guitar weighs 7.66 lbs, giving buyers an accurate indication of how this particular instrument will feel rather than relying on a generic catalogue figure.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The Gordon Smith GSG2 is particularly well suited to rock, blues, alternative, punk, indie and classic-rock players who want something different from the usual mass-market brands.
It should especially appeal to players who value British manufacture, independent guitar building and instruments with their own identity.
PLAYING STYLES & APPLICATIONS
The GSG2 format is naturally well suited to classic rock, blues-rock, alternative, punk, indie and general rhythm or lead work.
Its compact double-cut design also makes it practical for players who spend a lot of time higher up the fingerboard.
HOW IT COMPARES
GSG2 vs Gibson SG
Both use a broadly similar double-cutaway concept.
The Gordon Smith offers a distinctly British interpretation, with its own construction choices, electronics and handmade character rather than attempting to be a direct SG copy.
GSG2 vs Mass-Produced Double-Cut Guitars
The main appeal of the Gordon Smith is individuality.
Production numbers are much smaller than those of major global guitar brands, and Gordon Smith has historically offered extensive specification choices.
Satin vs Gloss Finish
A gloss finish provides a smoother and more reflective appearance.
The Satin Honeyburst finish on this example gives the guitar a more understated, tactile feel that suits the workmanlike GSG aesthetic.
