The MXR M77 Custom Badass Modified Overdrive is an analogue overdrive pedal built around a hot-rodded SD-1-style circuit with expanded EQ shaping for more control over low-end response and midrange emphasis.

The control set is Gain, Output, Tone, 100Hz, and a Bump switch. Gain sets the amount of overdrive, Output controls overall level, Tone shapes the upper frequency balance, the 100Hz control boosts or cuts low frequencies for tighter or thicker response, and the Bump switch engages an alternate EQ voicing with additional low-mid emphasis.

The result is a flexible mid-gain overdrive that can move from tight, focused rhythm tones to thicker, more saturated lead sounds depending on EQ settings, while retaining a responsive, amp-like feel when paired with a driven amplifier.
