The Boss RV-2 Digital Reverb is a compact pedal that introduced studio-quality reverb into a stompbox format. Released in 1987, it was the first digital reverb pedal ever produced by Boss, marking a significant technological leap for effects pedals of its time. Built with high-quality 16-bit digital processing, the RV-2 offered multiple reverb modes that captured lush, spacious, and dynamic reverberation previously found only in rack-mounted units.

The pedal features modes for Room, Hall, and Plate reverbs, along with longer Delay and Gated Reverb options, making it versatile for various musical applications. It includes controls for Effect Level, Pre EQ, Time, and Mode, allowing precise shaping of the reverb effect to suit clean or distorted signals. Musicians could add subtle ambiance to their sound or create expansive soundscapes with its longer decay times.
